 Brain Exercise

“A man’s real possession is his memory. In nothing else is he rich, in nothing else is he poor.” -  Alexander Smith
Yes, your memory is your one true treasure. Yet most of us don’t consider what it takes to preserve and extend that treasure. At Memory Spring, we promote an integrated approach to improving memory and brain health which includes Physical, Organizational, Mental/Emotional, and Technical elements.
While most of us focus a good amount of our time on the Physical element (Fitness/Nutrition), we spend very little time on the Technical element.
The Technical element focuses on keeping the brain working and challenged to enhance memory performance, cognitive function, and brain health.  As part of your technical approach, you might want to consider a research-based brain fitness program.
Recent studies have shown that research-based brain exercises can boost reasoning skills, memory and mental processing speed, improve general cognitive function, and stave off mental decline.  In addition, studies have shown that research-based brain exercises help increase the flow of blood into the brain. When there is more blood flow to the brain, the supply of oxygen to the organ increases which helps the brain perform at its optimal capacity.  Additional benefits include:
•Enhanced recall
•Improved concentration.
•Sharpened visual memory.
•Increased short-term memory.
•Improved focus and attention
•Improved self esteem
As with anything, a research-based brain fitness program shouldn’t be looked at as a “silver bullet” to solve all of your forgetfulness problems. A research-based brain fitness program should be used as a part of an integrated approach to improving your memory and brain health.
Memory Spring has recently aligned with Brain HQ to provide research-based brain training for our students.  We chose Brain HQ because they are one of the only Brain Training companies that has significant research to support its program.  Their exercises have been rigorously tested and scientifically proven to work in more than 100 independent, peer-reviewed research papers published in scientific journals—and many more studies are underway.
For Memory Spring students, Brain HQ has set up a Memory Spring group where we can observe individual progress and provide feedback to sharpen focus and enhance results.  The investment is $95 per year. Click here for more information on Brain Fitness Training at Memory Spring.
So what are you doing to take care of one true treasure? Give some focus to your brain today.  The work you put in today will pay dividends for you for many years to come.
